Situated a short distance from the downtown district, the Jacksonville International Airport is a busy facility with annual traffic figures of more than five-million passengers. The airport receives some 200 arrivals and departures daily, to and from a wide variety of destinations. Ground transportation options into the city center include taxis and hotel shuttles.

Car Rental

Jacksonville is within reasonable driving distance of some of Florida's finest attractions and visitors would be wise to consider renting a vehicle to travel around the region. Hire cars are available from both dealers based at the airport and those in downtown Jacksonville. There are three major interstates serving Jacksonville, namely the I-95, the I-295 and the I-10. The I-75 Interstate also runs about 60 miles / 96 km west of downtown.

Buses and Coaches

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) operates a variety of bus services in the city. Meanwhile, those wishing to travel to destinations farther afield can use the ever popular Greyhound coaches.

Trains

Amtrak has a station on Clifford Lane, situated on the northwestern side of the city, which provides travel between Jacksonville and other Florida and US destinations. For short hops, there is the Skyway service, an elevated train system that operates between downtown destinations.

Taxis

There are a variety of companies offering taxi services in Jacksonville, including the ever popular Yellow Cab Company. Passengers can hail cabs in the street or call and advance book a car.
